King Wilkie will perform on the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville November 5th!10/23/04 - just add water
Last nights show at Starr Hill in Charlottesville was incredible. The room was packed and the crowd was riled up. The lack of light both on and off-stage created an intense mood which seemed to further energize people in the audience. The band really enjoyed the crowd and vice versa. At the beginning of the set, Reid wore a suit jacket that had belonged to Bill Monroe!
Thanks to Jess for the pics. 10/18/04 - Fall Homecoming

King Wilkie was awarded Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2004 International Bluegrass Music Association awards. Thanks so much to all you voters out there. Here's a rundown
on all that happened during the week: Tuesday in the hotel suite there was a birthday party/jam session to celebrate John's birthday. Sake was drank from a tin can.
Wednesday the band played a radio show on the Louisville npr station which went nicely. Also on Wednesday, Nick made the decision to wear one of his childhood sweaters to the award show. A classy choice.
Thursday was the award ceremony in which the band played a very active part. In addition to taking home the
award for best emerging artist, they presented awards for instrumental album of the year and mandolin player of the year. The presentations given by John and Reid were excellent. Later King Wilkie exchanged
hellos with Alison Krauss and met up with the boys in Del McCoury band as the evening stretched on into the early morning. Friday the hotel room was vacated and King Wilkie put in a short performance at IBMA fanfest,
which was followed by many mini goodbye sessions and then that was that...another good year in Louisville.10/9/04 - running on empty
